In April of 2016, Regina Wilburn was diagnosed with stage 4 lobular carcinoma breast cancer. Out of 15 lymph nodes removed, 10 were cancerous. She had a double mastectomy and reconstruction this November. Yet she still has tumors in her spine and liver, and is currently being treated for an infection in the surgery site of her mastectomy,anticipates surgery in 2017 to remove part of her liver, and travels to Chicago for appointments with her oncologist to receive treatments and counsel on her immune-building therapies. Gina Wilburn was formerly a P-CEP teacher; she now teaches at Starkweather Academy where she is the Key Club advisor. Her youngest daughter attends Plymouth High School as a junior. Her oldest daughter graduated in 2009 from Plymouth, and her son graduated in 2012.
